Becca + James | Pine Creek Estate Wedding | Paducah, KY

I just love Becca and James’ love story. They were together in high school but lost touch for a while. 10 years later, Becca heard “Perfect” on the radio and immediately knew she needed to reconnect with James. After a decade, they fell in love again. Becca’s best friend Peyton was her officiant and she mentioned in the ceremony that she’d been telling Becca for YEARS that she would end up marrying James and on Saturday, she was finally proven right! Becca and I traveled together to Italy and Greece when I worked in the study abroad office and I was so glad for this chance to reconnect with her and meet her family and her new husband.

This was not at all the wedding that James and Becca started planning - due to COVID-19 they cut their guest list down to 10 close friends and family members. They plan to celebrate with a bigger party as soon as it’s safe to do so, and will be using pictures and video from their wedding day at their larger reception later on. I think this might have been the smallest wedding I’ve ever photographed, and it was such a calm and peaceful atmosphere all day. When we first spoke months ago about me photographing their wedding, Becca and James told me they loved hiking, camping and being outdoors and hoped to be married in the woods. Their wedding day ended up being exactly what they’d first talked about, and after a get-together later on the evening of their wedding with the people who would have made up their bridal party, they left for a quick honeymoon camping trip!

Becca says their favorite part of wedding planning was making the ceremony as unique and personal as possible. “We wrote our own wedding script, our own vows, asked a friend to play music, and had a friend get ordained online to marry us!”
