Hazel and Grandma
This one is very near and dear to my heart. My mom is an incredibly special person in our lives and I feel so lucky to have her and my dad so closeby. Many of our friends with kids don't have family who live near Murray - it definitely makes our lives much easier to know that any time we need them, they will show up in less than an hour. My mom is also a superfan of my photography which I'm grateful for. It's really nice to have so many people cheering me on and her approval means a lot to me. (I wish my teenage self could read this blog post because I don't think she would have ever thought she would write those words.) I was really happy when my mom said she wanted me to take pictures of her and Hazel. I did refuse to take her money - happy birthday, mom!
I had a really close relationship with my grandmother who sadly passed away just a few months before Hazel was born. I see pieces of her in Hazel's blue eyes, silly sense of humor, and sweet and nurturing personality. I'm glad that Hazel and my mom are carrying on the tradition of close-knit grandmother/granddaughter relationships. There are some really beautiful photographs of my mom and grandmother from my mom's teen years that I wanted to try to replicate the feeling of, so I did some warmer tones and went for more of a vintage look in the editing of these images.
I know Hazel will love looking at these happy moments later on. We planned this shoot right before Hazel was supposed to have surgery so that I could get them to my mom in time for her birthday, but unfortunately H was sick so we had to reschedule her appointment. I think she must have already not been well during the shoot because she was not her normal smiley self. Oh well! Still some really cute ones, I think!
Love you momma and I'm glad you like them!
