I can't speak for every photographer, but "so this might sound weird..." is music to my ears when it comes to new ideas for style, location, outfits, etc. One of my life philosophies that carries over into my photography is "why would you want to do the same thing as everyone else?" I could have jumped across the computer and hugged Heidi when I read her email that said she didn't want to take photos in a field because that's what everyone does. In Murray, fields are plentiful and beautiful, but I think it's more fun to try and see the beauty in unexpected places. 

This family was truly up for whatever and I'm so glad I got to photograph them. Heidi and Drew were married a few years ago but she wasn't happy with their wedding photos and her "weird idea" was to do part of their family photos in wedding outfits. I suggested Murray Middle School as a location because I love the architecture, lines, and history and I thought it would be a grand enough to balance their formal attire. Drew attended the school as a student, so that was a fun added bonus!
