Anissa is a student who I've worked with at my day job in the study abroad office at Murray State University. I've always been impressed with her poise, her style, and her ambition. I was absolutely thrilled when she asked me to take some headshots for her graduate school applications. She is applying to Music Performance programs so I thought Murray State's Lovett Auditorium would be an ideal location.
She also shared with me some of the struggles she's had in finding the right path for her education. She initially wanted to go into education but after a close friend of hers who was pursuing an education degree experienced some pretty racist policies regarding her hairstyle, Anissa decided to focus on music. That story inspired the second part of our session and I'm so proud of the work we created together.
