Elizabeth + Ryan: A Farewell to Murray

EandR-20.jpg

One of the worst things about living in Murray is how often we lose great people.  I love small town life but it is definitely not for everyone and too often, people are lured away by more excitement, better jobs, and new opportunities.  I'm really sad to see Elizabeth and Ryan go but I thought it was really nice that they wanted to take some pictures at their home and the MSU Arboretum to remember their time in Murray.

It was great getting to know them a little better through this process - thank you guys for being so nice while I asked you all kinds of probing questions about your relationship, hobbies, and likes and dislikes!  I found out during our consultation (interrogation?) that they like to play "trains" to unwind and that they had already planned to play the Friday when we had our shoot scheduled.  I really wanted to capture some lifestyle/"slice of life" photos as well as more posed/formal ones.  I wasn't sure what to expect from "trains" but as you can see below, it's a fun board game that can apparently be very competitive.  I'm pretty sure Elizabeth was winning but I'm still not 100% on the rules.

This was my first ever (!) official gig as a photographer and I'm so grateful it was with such lovely people.  When I asked Ryan and Elizabeth to describe their relationship in one word, Ryan quickly said "complementary" - I think it's easy to tell from the photos what he meant by that.  Murray will miss you (and your sweet puppy Sydney) but I wish you all the best in your new life!
