Greatest Hits | 2017 | Robyn Pizzo Photo

First of all: can I say a ginormous THANK YOU to all my clients, new and returning, who trusted me to capture their important moments this year?

I loved getting to be there with my clients less than 24 hours after a baby was born, on the eve of high school graduation, and when applying for graduate school, earning a master’s degree, getting married and joining a family, turning 1, getting engaged, getting family portraits taken for the first time in years, updating academic and professional headshots, etc. etc. Each moment was special and I treasure the time I spent getting to know you and your families.

Favorite moments:

  • When Abigail and Christian saw each other for the first time in their wedding dresses
  • When George reached out to hold his baby sister in the hospital, surrounded by both sets of grandparents
  •  When Molly and Annabel helped throw confetti for Avery’s perfect senior photos (after avoiding a balloon crisis when one popped earlier in the day)
  • All the times my clients invited me into their homes. I know that takes so much trust and I think it pays off with images that are truly personal and one-of-a-kind.
  • Sharing a beer with Dana and Paco before their engagement session, and them humoring me by playing a silly card game to make them comfortable and get some genuine laughs and tender moments

Favorite locations:

  • Always urban, gritty, downtown, or abandoned areas
  • Cool mural walls and brightly colored backgrounds (the weirder the better)
  • In clients’ homes
  • At the county fair

What I’ve learned this year:

  • Better technique for shooting in all kinds of lighting conditions, locations, and times of day
  • Getting over feeling anxious and awkward when shooting in public places
  • More posing tips for working with seniors and couples

Common themes in my work:

  • Diversity and inclusivity in the people I work with and types of sessions I do (LOVE this part of the job)
  • My work tends to be really colorful and I don’t shy away from contrast/moodiness when the session calls for it
  • Trending toward a more minimalistic and candid/lifestyle/journalistic approach

SUPER exciting things coming to RPP this year! Can’t wait to share with you! Love to all and happy holidays! See you in 2018.
