This adorable tiny baby, you guys! I'm so glad she's finally here. She was born on Labor Day so this post is a little behind - she was right around a week old when we took these photos. Congrats x1000 to my good friends Sean and Tiffany - thanks for letting me take all the photos of your family!
Read MoreThe Patel family had some big events going on that the wanted photographed: big sister turned 6 years old and baby brother turned 6 months old. Not pictured here but included in their gallery were photos with two number 6 mylar balloons that the kids loved. We started at their home (I always love that because it's so personal and important to the family) and then headed downtown for some more of my "gritty but pretty" family photos. I'm so grateful for clients who trust me to find them good locations!
Enjoy the photos of this adorable Murray, KY family!
Read MoreI've written previously about Hazel and Maybellene's best friendship and how I thrust myself upon her mom, Ann, at story time because she had cute glasses and I was determined to make a mom friend that day. Instead, how about some brief tips on photographing little kids? I'm by no means an expert, but I do have about 10,000 photos of Hazel on my own and many of my clients have been under the age of 10.

Get down on their level.
Occasionally I like to shoot from high above to get a "parent's eye view" but more often than not, I am down on the ground crouching and crawling and doing whatever contortion it takes to get my camera at their eye level.
My favorite sessions are adorable families in unique places. How better to practice than on my own adorable family in the grittiest place we could think of? :) I love my two goofballs.
Read MoreI took these photographs back in August and never got to blog them. Now their new addition has arrived and so this post is especially behind!
I can say without hesitation that Sean and Tiffany are some of my favorite people to photograph. They are super sweet and good looking, so that helps, but I also appreciate how much they trust me and help me grow as a photographer. They're the first people who ever called me their "family photographer" and the first clients I've had to book multiple sessions for the different milestones in their lives. I can't wait to build more of these relationships with the families I'm working with because I love watching the kids grow up and having different sessions with different focuses but that all go together and that (I hope!) they'll cherish in the future.
