Emerson's Lifestyle Newborn Session

Emerson was an absolute dream for my first time ever shooting a newborn.  I loved being able to go to my client's home for this shoot.  Emerson's nursery was adorable.  When I was getting ready for Hazel, I spent a lot of time working on her room so that it was a happy, fun, inviting place to welcome her home and I think it's such a great place to capture those first few days, especially with a room as cute and bright as baby E's!  I loved the shade of blue on the walls, her crib bedding, and especially the black and white animals above the bed.  I'm a sucker for cute farm animals (seriously, I'm the person everyone tags in baby goat photos on facebook) and since both her parents work in agriculture, it seemed especially appropriate.

"I do" Re-Do

I can't speak for every photographer, but "so this might sound weird..." is music to my ears when it comes to new ideas for style, location, outfits, etc. One of my life philosophies that carries over into my photography is "why would you want to do the same thing as everyone else?" I could have jumped across the computer and hugged Heidi when I read her email that said she didn't want to take photos in a field because that's what everyone does. Hazel and Grandma

This one is very near and dear to my heart.  My mom is an incredibly special person in our lives and I feel so lucky to have her and my dad so closeby.  Many of our friends with kids don't have family who live near Murray - it definitely makes our lives much easier to know that any time we need them, they will show up in less than an hour.  My mom is also a superfan of my photography which I'm grateful for.  It's really nice to have so many people cheering me on and her approval means a lot to me.  (I wish my teenage self could read this blog post because I don't think she would have ever thought she would write those words.)  I was really happy when my mom said she wanted me to take pictures of her and Hazel.  I did refuse to take her money - happy birthday, mom!

Elizabeth + Ryan: A Farewell to Murray

One of the worst things about living in Murray is how often we lose great people.  I love small town life but it is definitely not for everyone and too often, people are lured away by more excitement, better jobs, and new opportunities.  I'm really sad to see Elizabeth and Ryan go but I thought it was really nice that they wanted to take some pictures at their home and the MSU Arboretum to remember their time in Murray.
